Markets change. In this context, companies have to make decisions time and again in order to remain profitable in a competitive environment and to ensure sustainable growth. To this end, responsible top managers regularly bring in external consultants who bring an outside perspective and expertise for forward-looking solutions. As a management consultant you are constantly confronted with new economic and entrepreneurial challenges.
No two projects are the same. This makes this field of work as exciting as it is challenging. And a master`s in Strategic Management & Consulting at CBS is an excellent preparation for this. You will get to know the phases of the consulting process as well as the essential instruments that are used in consulting. And in order to train the solving of complex problems, you will use them already during your studies in the context of case studies.
The prerequisite for admission to the master’s programme is a first academic degree in economics. Admission with a first academic degree from a different subject is also possible after the successful completion of one or more preliminary semesters but requires an individual examination. Our student advisory service staff will be happy to advise you in detail about our specialisations and admission requirements.
First of all, you will be given sound business knowledge, which will provide you with the basis for a wide range of possible consulting projects as a consultant. In particular, you will get to know working methods as well as common phases and methods of consulting and learn which concepts characterise the modern consulting landscape.
You deal with management and control techniques that enable the efficient use of scarce resources. A further focus of the course content is the topic of financial consulting. Here you will learn to correctly analyse and interpret key figures in order to develop concepts and scenarios based on them. Since management consulting takes place in the form of projects, project management is an important part of the course of study in order to prepare you optimally for your field of work.
It is not without reason that working as a consultant is often the career springboard to other companies and industries. Medium-sized consulting firms are often specialised in certain industries or consulting topics. There you can take on more specific tasks according to your personal interests. In addition, concerns now have their own in-house consulting departments, which, for example, are called in on a project basis for financial, personnel or technical issues. In addition, the master’s degree naturally also opens up the possibility of a doctorate.
