Globalisation, technological developments as well as economic and societal shifts continuously create challenges and opportunities in both our local environments and across the world. On a positive outlook people develop wonderful ideas every day. The world is rich in ideas, but poor in its execution. Business executive education comes in exactly here, as working with scarce resources, turning ideas into innovations and achieving joint actions through committed leadership are our fields of expertise and experience.
The CBS Executive MBA programme in cooperation with the Maastricht University (Maastricht MBA) offers you a unique journey during which you will enhance and update your knowledge and enrich your capability and skill base through action-oriented learning that encompasses business practice and interactive co-creation with professors and fellow students. At the end of this journey you will not just be better equipped but also better connected to meet the challenges mentioned and turn them into opportunities for a better world.
The MaastrichtMBA aims at professionals and (future) managers in companies, government and non-profit organisations with at least five years of relevant work experience. In general, participants have acquired a specialist university degree and would now like to further deepen and broaden their knowledge of business administration.
Participating in this programme is a strategic investment. The programme offers you a broad managerial knowledge base and a more strategic perspective on doing business. A unique modular setup allows you to develop your personal skills and expand your network alongside your job. In an intimate and informal atmosphere you will work on meeting your learning objectives together with academic and support staff.
This Excutive MBA tries to accommodate working professionals in the best way possible. Therefore the programme is designed in a modular format with four educational weeks each year, with classes from Monday till Friday. We ask for an average time commitment of 15 to 20 hours per week. You are allowed to spread your total study load over a minimum of two and a maximum of four years.
The programme is designed around a smart bundle of holistic business themes you can cover in any order. This carousel approach is an excellent solution for ambitious professionals who sometimes just need to prioritise work above study. For each module that comes along, simply choose whether you will join it or not. As long as you complete all educational weeks within four years, anything goes!
Alongside face-to-face interactions, we offer a virtual learning environment, that serves to maintain your study rhythm anytime, anywhere. By closely connecting the in-class sessions with online learning activities, the programme offers a practical, blended learning approach to management education. The virtual environment provides opportunities to reflect on the concepts you discussed during educational weeks on campus, it provides a means to continue class conversations by initiating lively online discussions, it offers an elaborate academic knowledge base that goes beyond the topics covered in class, and it enables you to efficiently work together on team assignments.
The MaastrichtMBA consists of an introduction weekend, five inbound modules in Maastricht, one module in Belgium, one module here at the Cologne Business School, an international week in one of the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), a leadership development trajectory, and a business consulting project.
The CBS Executive MBA programme in cooperation with the Maastricht School of Management (MSM) completes the MSM with the internationally recognised MBA (Master of Business Administration). This is a qualification for top management positions in the global field.
Businesses value not only the well-founded professional know-how of MBA alumni but especially their intercultural competence, foreign language knowledge and practically-put-to-the-test team abilities. The MBA also gives you the necessary knowledge to start your own business and the essential (international) contacts.
The MBA was first accorded in 1902 at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire (USA) – to seven students. At that time it was called ‘Master of Commercial Sciences’. It was only over the years that the present name Master of Business Administration has prevailed.
