What is a student initiative?
A student initiative is a group formed, led and organised entirely by students. At its core is a shared goal that unites all members: to play an active role in shaping university life. Regular meetings provide space to share ideas, drive projects forward and collaborate on solutions. Membership is open to all students, regardless of their degree programme or year of study.
What topics are covered?
Student initiatives can focus on a wide variety of topics. At CBS, the following areas are currently represented:
• Sport
• Social engagement and sustainability
• Marketing
• Finance
• Business consulting
• Personal and professional development
Why should you join a student initiative?
By joining a student initiative, you’ll not only grow your personal network, but also connect with students from different study programmes and year groups. You’ll meet like-minded individuals who share your interests and passions. At the same time, you’ll gain hands-on experience by applying your academic knowledge in real-world contexts – whether you’re planning events or running joint projects. You’ll develop key skills in project management and benefit from team collaboration, where everyone contributes according to their strengths. You’ll also boost your soft skills and learn to work across disciplines – gaining valuable perspective beyond your own field of study. Most importantly, your involvement will build your confidence and help you apply your strengths strategically. Being an active member of a student initiative is not only personally rewarding – it’s also a great asset for your CV.
