Identifying key figures, understanding their results in the context of complex economic relationships, assessing values and risks and then making correct and sustainable business decisions – this is the demanding task of financial managers.
In the German-language Controlling & Financial Management master`s degree programme, you will acquire sound and practical knowledge that will enable you to consider and assess important financial aspects in corporate decisions. CBS prepares you comprehensively for a career in middle and upper management. The prerequisite for admission to the master’s programme is a first academic degree in economics.
In the general economics part of the study programme you will acquire broad business knowledge in order to understand the complete set of accounts of small and large companies. Using theories and examples, you will deal intensively with controlling topics such as information acquisition, cost accounting and strategic and operative controlling instruments. You will deepen your knowledge of value-oriented corporate management and learn how to increase and control the value of the company beyond sales and profit.
A further focus of this course of study is on company valuation. Here you will deal with analytical procedures and valuation models that are used, for example, in decisions on mergers and acquisitions. The International Risk Management seminar provides you with knowledge on how to manage entrepreneurial risk in the face of uncertainty, exchange rate fluctuations and the dynamics of international political and economic developments.
Financial skills are essential in all companies and organisations, regardless of size, sector and orientation. With your master`s in Controlling & Financial Management, you will find demanding challenges in controlling, accounting and financial reporting both on the corporate side and in management consultancies and with auditors. But public employers such as tax offices or the ECB are also looking for young academics. And last but not least, financial service providers such as banks, insurance companies and investment companies are typical employers for financial experts. You would like to continue your academic career? Of course, the master`s also entitles you to do a doctorate.
