CBS Cologne Business School

General Management: A Business Administration Master

The excellent alternative to a traditional business administration master’s degree: the German-language master’s programme in General Management at Cologne Business School. The focus of studies at CBS is placed on the international context of multinational companies, complex relationships and on management tasks. You will also acquire additional language skills, practical experience as well as personal and intercultural skills. By doing so, you can strive for a successful career in middle and upper management of internationally active companies.

Lecturers with real-life management experience as well as small seminar groups ensure close teamwork and high quality seminars. In particular, you will expand your knowledge of regional, cultural and historical factors that are decisive for business decisions.

From economics to management

Understanding correlations and developing strategies: course contents include Macroeconomics and Economic Policy, Theories of Foreign Trade, Economic Law, Corporate Governance and CSR – just to name a few. These topics form a secure foundation for your future management expertise, which you will acquire in courses like Strategic Management, Change Management, International Marketing and International Human Resources Management.

From cash flows to commodity flows

Money and goods are the essence of most companies’ business models. In the courses, Corporate Finance and Consolidated Accounting, you will deepen your knowledge of finance. Extensive management know-how includes insights into global supply chains, which are a decisive success factor for production and trade companies. Subjects and materials on global sourcing, international production and logistics and technology management await you.

CBS Cologne Business School

Choose one of three specializations

The expertise you gain through the Business Administration Master’s degree programme with its integrated specialization will tip the scales in your favour and pave the way for more concrete career prospects. After all, you have already completed a first degree in economics and therefore know which subjects you are particularly enthusiastic about. Choose between Financial Management, Management Consulting or Marketing Management as your main focus.

Improve personal skills

Soft skills are a hard currency when it comes to filling vacancies for specialists and executives. The CBS Master’s degree programme also includes courses on team and self-management, creative thinking, and innovation and leadership.

Science put into practice

In a Master’s degree study programme, you prove that you can work scientifically. This is substantiated in the fourth semester when you write your Master’s thesis. Many students write this as part of a company project, and in doing so, link theory with practice. You also have the opportunity to write your thesis during a semester abroad at one of our partner universities. Preparation for the real world is also gained during an internship of at least eight weeks and in the second semester when you simulate market entry strategies for multinational companies.

Career paths to management

Your Master of Business Administration degree opens up a myriad of career opportunities as junior executives, for example, at domestic or foreign corporations and medium-sized enterprises. Possible positions include all areas of management, such as project management, controlling, marketing, or human resources. A career in corporate and political consulting or in business associations is also possible. In addition, you have the opportunity to pursue an academic career and to do a doctorate. If you are interested in becoming even more international, we would suggest our English-language Master’s programme, International Business.
