Student Life
Saiganesh Balasubramanian is studying the Master programme International Business - Financial Management at CBS International Business School in Mainz. He received the scholarship Deutschlandstipendium this year. He tells us about his career goals as well as the application process for the scholarship.
I highly appreciate the fact that international students in Germany are encouraged. It is very important that someone supports your dreams and Deutschlandstipendium is such a support for my dreams.
After the admission process, the Career Service Team of CBS and CBS sent email encouraging students to apply for the Deutschlandstipendium and that is when I got to know about it.
The email had a link which I had to follow and fill in the application form. Along with it, I had to upload certificates for my previous degrees, transcripts and a motivation letter. The CBS Career Service Team was very kind to answer some of my queries and guided me through the process well. Then the much awaited result came about three months later and now it is a great previlege to be a recipient of this scholarship.
I completed my MBA from the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, one of the top ranking universities in India and graduated among the top five. Aside of academics, I was also part of various cultural and co-curricular activities. I am also a firm believer in the principle of giving back to society and helping the needy. During my college days, I actively participated for 7 years in “ Sri Sathya Sai Grama Seva” – a free food & cloth distribution programmeacross 150+ villages- instilling teamwork and empathy & respect for rural folk. This social work programmeis organized and conducted every year by Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust Organization, which owns the university I studied at, is a non-profit organisation. I have also volunteered on many occasions to clean and maintain the temples around my locality.
Education in Germany is of high quality, at the same time not very expensive like in the USA or the UK. Also, here international students are highly encouraged. Hence, Germany seemed the best choice.
The courses offered at the CBS are application-oriented and this would be highly helpful when I choose a career in Finance after this course. Also, since it is located near Frankfurt, which is the financial capital of the EU, I thought that this would provide me with an ample exposure.
After the completion of my Masters in Financial Management at CBS, I would like to work for some time in Germany in Investment Management and the Corporate Strategy domain in order to gain expertise in this field.
It is very important that students are financially supported so that they could concentrate on their studies rather than having to worry about managing their finances. For me, Deutschlanstipendium, is very helpful as I can devote my entire time to studying.
I would future applicants to heed the calls for Deutschlandstipendium and apply within the deadline. Also, do not forget to mention all your relevant achievements in the motivation letter. All the best!
