Cologne, May 2024 - On 3 May, CBS International Business School and the Europäische Fachhochschule (EUFH) officially inaugurated the new joint campus site in Cologne-Rodenkirchen. Representatives from politics, city administration and business as well as students and employees of the universities were invited.
Around 2,500 students and 260 employees have been learning and working together on the spacious site in Cologne-Rodenkirchen since this spring. At the official opening ceremony, Prof Dr Anja Karlshaus, President of CBS, and Prof Dr Clarissa Kurscheid, President of EUFH, welcomed the guests.
Andreas Wolter, Deputy Mayor of the city of Cologne, congratulated on behalf of the city of Cologne on the successful move and emphasised the strengthening of Cologne as a university location through the new joint campus, while Alexander Jacobi, Managing Director of Bauwens Development GmbH & Co. KG, representing the building developer, ceremoniously presented the two presidents with the official ‘key’ to the new site and emphasised the challenging but also successful cooperation during the intensive renovation work on the buildings.
Lothar Kleiner, board member Ernst Klett AG, was delighted to see both of the Klett Group's universities of applied sciences united on one site and congratulated them on the successful start of the lectures in their new buildings. Ina Brandes, Minister for Science and Culture of North Rhine-Westphalia, also welcomed the guests with a video message and emphasised the successful move as a contribution to strengthening North Rhine-Westphalia as a science location.
In addition to exciting presentations by CBS professors and practical insights into the ‘hands-on zones’ of the EUFH building, visitors were able to take part in campus tours or toast the opening together in the inner courtyard.
