Intercultural Management Studies

Globalization is exciting and constantly imposes new challenges on companies. The employees in some large companies even outnumber those living in smaller countries. A copious clash of cultures both internally and externally. Colleagues, customers, suppliers – each bearing his or her own culture and values. And when it comes to foreign negotiations, it is advisable to avoid cultural faux pas.The task of intercultural management experts is to utilize cultural awareness in order to build bridges between cultures and cultural areas thus facilitating the success of one’s own company.

Intercultural Management is a course of study at Cologne Business School, which prepares you to work on an international level. The course is taught in English. Worth noting: Studying Intercultural Management at CBS means studying management. The basis is business administration – after all, we are a business school. Besides, you also want to enter the management levels of internationally operating companies or NGOs later on.

Intercultural. Interdisciplinary

In addition to economics, cultural and social sciences are also on the agenda. Beginning in the first semester, you will be confronted with intercultural management theories and case studies. In the following semesters, you will discuss the economic cultures of the EU, Asia, India, North Africa and Latin America as well as politics and cultural anthropology. This is because economic relations are always influenced by external factors – think about the discussions about free trade agreements.

Expertise in management is the key

The focus in the first three semesters is on economics in general: law, mathematics, business figures, personnel management, marketing, strategic management and empirical social research. This serves to provide you with a complete overview of economics.

Practice is the best preparation

You want to study intercultural management to prepare for your career. That’s why we involve you in real business matters right from the start – with practical case studies, with a business project in the 4th semester, where you will apply your knowledge to solve and present a real or realistic problem, and with a compulsory internship.

Semester abroad? Foreign languages? Of course.

Study Intercultural Management 24/7: In the 5th semester, you will get to know life in a foreign country during your semester abroad – an ideal opportunity to get to know a culture intensively and to extend your own network abroad. CBS has partner universities all over the world and offers you support when selecting the right place for your studies. Since English is the course language, you will automatically be able to fit in almost anywhere in the world thanks to your strong language skills. But that’s not all. Business English and additional language instruction are also part of the study programme. How about a new foreign language? This could already be of use here on the campus, because people from all over the world come to study at CBS.
