CBS proud to announce excellent university ranking from Wirtschaftswoche magazine

The Cologne Business School (CBS) placed fourth among the top-ranked universities of applied sciences in Germany in the category: Business Administration. This announcement comes from the Wirtschaftswoche (Business Weekly) magazine’s university rankings, which is put together in collaboration with the consulting firm, Universum. The basis for this very special ranking is an amalgamation of opinions from corporations as to which colleges do the best job in preparing students for the marketplace. For a university like CBS, which particularly stands out for its practical approach in studies, this acknowledgement of the college’s work and accomplishment of producing qualified young people is held in extraordinarily high regard.

The university ranking from Wirtschaftswoche magazine and Universum first began in 2007. For the current issue, 540 human resources managers from various industries across the country were asked for their assessment as to which universities best prepare their graduates to meet the needs of businesses. „We are really proud of the result,“ says CBS President, Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Fröhlich. „We are extremely happy about the excellent rating as it is another attestation that our hands-on study concept really works.“

Overall, universities located in big cities received particularly good marks in the ranking, which, of course, was a benefit for CBS. “A strong practical application is easier to implement in economically strong regions because the business contacts there are simply better and more diverse,” said Prof. Dr. Florian Hummel, Vice-President of Economics and Management at CBS. “But if it were not for a consistently high quality of teaching and a highly dedicated and proven team of professors, the proximity to the Cologne Cathedral surely would not have been much help.” Professor Hummel then goes on to say that he is particularly proud of the CBS graduates, who have clearly managed to fulfill the expectations placed on them with excellence.

This outstanding result in the current university ranking by Wirtschaftswoche magazine reaffirms once again CBS’s consistency in securing exceptional ratings for accreditations and rankings. “On such occasions, it is usually the students who are asked first,” says Professor Hummel. “It’s great that CBS also scores well among business representatives. After all, it’s not only our students’ and alumni’s satisfaction with their university, which is important to us. This ranking proves that we prepare young men and women for successful future careers.“ It certainly does not only have to do with our profound and globally oriented expert knowledge but also, and especially, with the intensive training of soft skills, which have always been an integral part of studies at CBS.
