Students explore Munich

All Categories, Inside CBS   -  11. April 2017

One of the most expected I’StIP events took place between April 7th and April 9th, the trip to Munich. On Friday, a group of 30 students from different nationalities like Mexico, Brazil, Germany (and more!) departed to the Bavarian capital with the expectation to try the typical 1lt beer, get to know the history and enjoy a walk through the city.

After we checked in at the hostel, everyone had free time until dinner. Some people used the time to go to the BMW museum, others decided to walk through the English Garden while another group went to the city center. For dinner, we had a reservation at Hofbräuhaus München, where we could not only try typical Bavarian food and beer, but also enjoy live music and see typical Bavarian dances.

On Saturday, we had a 3-hour tour through Munich. We saw a part of the city from the bus and explored the rest of the city center by foot. We received very interesting information about the history and saw important landmarks like the Nymphenburg Palace, Königsplatz and the Olympic tower. After the city tour, we had free time for the rest of the day. A group of students had interest in going to the Neuschwanstein Castle despite the long way and lack of time to visit it from inside. After almost a 3-hour journey, we made it to Marienbrücke in Hohenschwangau to enjoy the beautiful view of the castle. We took some time to walk around, to take many pictures and to enjoy the landscape. At 22:30 hrs we were back in Munich and happy we made it to the castle.

On Sunday morning, we left the hostel after breakfast to return to Cologne. It was a great experience and a great short weekend we all enjoyed.
