The recruiters realised that they had won the participants through their presentations to an impressive extent during the subsequent discussions in the EMS. The students crowded the university premises, patiently waiting for free dialog partners, making contacts and preparing for their scheduled speed dating:
“Great event, I have already had three speed dating meetings and three job offers!”
“Well-organized-event and great companies. I could really learn a lot here for my career!”
“The Career Day is great! One gets to meet so many companies and even without a speed-dating-appointment, one can speak to personnel managers and even be offered a job. Great!”
This is the almost unanimous feedback from the students. But the recruiters also confirmed what was already apparent in the run-up to the Career Day: Even though the event was initially planned with a limited selection of companies, the university was eventually filled with twice the number of companies down to the very last room.
Gerald Ohnesorge, Talent Acquisition Specialist at Enterprise Holdings confirmed, “This has been by far the best Career Day we’ve ever experienced! Everything was perfectly organized, great conversations with great students. We would love to partake repeatedly! ” Especially the short-term interviews scheduled in advance provided a high added value as a core component of the event for all those involved.
As Oliver Kipcic, Managing Director of Oliver James Associates, confirms: “We had a lot of very good discussions and also a few candidates who could be considered for joining our company. It was a lot of fun and was great profit for all parties! Clearly well organized. We would love to come back. ”
In addition to intensive discussions, the exchange of information between various contacts and the broadening of personal network, listening to and taking tips from experts was not neglected. In a parallel lecture program, the students received impulses for their own career planning, gained insights into the daily life of consultants and learned how they could sharpen their personal profile through “human branding”.
That is how Oliver Kipcic (Oliver James Associates) led the audience through his personal career path. Although it is important to set goals, plans often change. “Find out what’s good and right for you!” He advised the students. “Always try to learn from the best, since they are successful because they are doing something right. Be yourselves, be authentic! Try what you can and find out where your strengths are! ”
But also, company founders came at their own expense. In the specially set up start-up lounge, those interested in founding their own companies could hold discussions with young entrepreneurs and exchange information. The founders of Eulchen Beer gave the interested parties an insight into their success story right from the Bachelor’s Thesis all the way to establishing their own brewery. They also talked about their own experiences that the first enthusiasm often goes hand in hand with great effort, patience and perseverance until one’s own product is finally noticed on the market.
After a fully packed day and a “speed dating marathon”, the participants could only repeat: “Compliments to the Career Service Department. That was the best event ever!” The “mission career” continues: while company representatives and students prepare for the next steps in the application process for internships, theses, traineeships or direct entry, the EMS Career Service Department has already received the first bookings as well as cooperation projects from companies for the second Career Day Event.
The Career Service is more than happy to provide career information and business cooperation information at EMS at email@example.com.
