Value Chain Management

Research focus

The Value Chain Management research cluster focuses on creating value chain networks and looks at their implications for the strategic and integrated coordination of all corporate value-creating functional areas. The transfer between research, teaching and practice is a priority in the applied research conducted by this cluster. Results are used to develop consulting approaches, which provide companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with specific starting points for strategic action. A further focus is implementing the research within the context of international management. The Value Chain Management research cluster deals with the following three aspects:

  • Sustainable value creation is the alignment of added value with the three pillars of sustainability – people, planet and profit.
  • Value enhancement is the continuous improvement and adaptation of value added to changing global conditions.
  • Value innovation is the development and implementation of new value propositions and value added processes through knowledge and innovation management.
