Areas of expertise

The cooperation of CBS researchers makes a very positive contribution to research. In individual cases, research is also conducted in collaboration with external researchers. The diverse expertise of CBS scholars means that research areas can be studied and developed from a broad range of perspectives. This produces a comprehensive and interdisciplinary analysis of the research projects. The following links provide further information on research expertise.

Prof. Dr. Carsten Deckert
Prof. Dr. Carsten Deckert graduated from RWTH Aachen University with a degree in mechanical engineering and subsequently completed a postgraduate programmein economics. He obtained his PhD under the supervision of Professor Walter Eversheim at the Chair of Production Engineering of the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) at RWTH Aachen University on the topic of knowledge management in product development. He gained teaching experience at a number of institutions, including TU Dortmund, Fachhochschule des Mittelstands in Bielefeld and Fachhochschule Dortmund.

Prof. Dr. Carsten Deckert has been Professor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management at CBS International Business School since 2012. Currently he is a member of the senate and head of the research cluster Value Chain Management of CBS. He acquired practical experience amongst others as a partner and member of the management team at Deckert Management Consultants GmbH in Düsseldorf and as a member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Aktionsgemeinschaft Bildung-Erfindung-Innovation (DABEI) e.V., a German non-profit organisation fostering education, invention and innovation.

Prof. Dr. habil. Elisabeth Fröhlich
Prof. Dr. Lisa Fröhlich studied business administration at Ludwig-Maximilian Universität in Munich and Universität zu Köln. She obtained her PhD (Dr. rer. pol) in 1994 (Supplier Evaluation – Situational Approach). In 2004, she completed her professorial thesis (Habilitation) at Universität zu Köln under the supervision of Prof. Dr. U. Koppelmann at the Purchasing and Product Policy Chair. She has been working at the university since 2007, where she teaches purchasing management and marketing. In April 2013, she was appointed President of CBS International Business School. She also teaches strategic purchasing management as part of a Supply Chain Management and Management Science seminar at Universität zu Köln and purchasing marketing and services marketing at the Verwaltungs- und Wirtschaftsakademie (VWA) in Cologne. She is a member of the expert advisory board of BME e.V., where one of her roles is to improve research exchange between industry and science. She is also a reviewer for the BME Science Prize. She is a member of the expert advisory board of the Institut für Nachhaltiges Management in Bonn, a double-blind reviewer for the Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing and a reviewer for Marketing Review St. Gallen.

Sabine Lüttgau M.A.
Sabine Grimm graduated from CBS International Business School with a BA and MA in International Business. She has been working at the university since 2010. She wrote her Master’s thesis on “Co-Creation Value within a Company Structure: A Ranking of Critical Success Factors regarding Supplier Innovation Collaboration”. She currently teaches marketing management and market research at CBS International Business School and Europäische Wirtschafts- und Sprachenakademie (EWS) and is a research assistant to Prof. Dr. Fröhlich. She is currently undertaking PhD studies under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Fröhlich on the subject of managing the interface between marketing and purchasing. Sabine Grimm has also gained practical business experience: in 2012, she set up a company in the hospitality sector, which now has two branches in Cologne.

Prof. Dr. Markus Raueiser
Prof. Dr. Markus Raueiser studied business administration at Universität zu Köln, where his core subjects were banking management, auditing, economic and social geography and international management. He completed a Master’s degree in management in Cologne, Copenhagen and Leuven. He was awarded his doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.) for his thesis “The Biotechnology Cluster in the Northern European Growth Region of Øresund”, which he completed at Universität zu Köln and Copenhagen Business School. He acquired practical experience at Kölner Wissenschaftsverlag, Deutsche Bank AG in Cologne and KPMG Peat Marwick LLC in New York. Prof. Dr. Raueiser has been working at CBS International Business School since 2006 and is Vice President for Internationalisation/International Affairs (2013) and Dean of the International Business department (since 2010).

Prof. Dr. Torsten Weber
Prof. Dr. Torsten Weber studied business administration at Universität zu Köln where his core subjects were marketing and market research, purchasing and product policy and business and social psychology. He wrote his doctorate on the subject of “Socially Sustainable Products – On the Implementation of Social Product Attributes in Product Marketing”, and obtained the title of Dr. rer. pol.

Prof. Dr. Torsten Weber has been teaching at CBS International Business School since 2011 and has been Dean of the General Management department since 2013. He gained practical experience at Rölf RP Management Consultants GmbH in Düsseldorf and in other business environments. He is a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences, particularly on the subjects of marketing and sustainability management and is Vice President of Fördergesellschaft Produktmarketing e.V.

Prof. Dr. Christoph Willers
Prof. Dr. Christoph Willers studied business administration at Universität zu Köln and the Aarhus School of Business. He undertook PhD studies at the Purchasing and Product Policy Chair under the supervision of Prof. Dr. U. Koppelmann at Universität zu Köln. His doctorate was entitled “Marketing in Resistance Markets Using the Example of Genetically Modified Food”. He has been working at CBS International Business School since 2014. Dr. Willers gained most of his practical experience in the area of management consultancy. He headed up the Food and Agriculture industry team at Baker Tilly Roelfs. In the area of strategy and process consultancy, his main area of interest is the sustainable organisation and alignment of management systems along the entire value chain. He was a co-founder of the Institut für Nachhaltiges Management and previously served as its Managing Director. He has also been teaching product policy in the Marketing department of Verwaltungs- und Wirtschaftsakademie (VWA) since 2011. He is an external reviewer for the German graduate scholarship programme (Deutsche Graduiertenförderung) at Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung e.V. He regularly delivers lectures and publishes on subjects relating to the food value chain.
