Advisory Board Study based on the CBS / BoardFinder 2020 Business Project

In the summer semester of 2020, CBS Master's students in the second semester of the General Management degree programme supported BoardFinder in the further development of its market entry and expansion strategy in Germany. BoardFinder is an international network of independent advisory, executive and supervisory board members. The tasks, which were distributed among five student teams, included (1) the survey of advisory board members in medium-sized companies and family businesses, (2) the survey of potential client companies, (3) the benchmark analysis with a focus on competitors in Germany, and (4) the development of a digital as well as (5) classic marketing concept.

The research results from the company and advisory board surveys were published in various media. A brochure summarising the main results of the surveys is a central element in this context. The brochure on the advisory board survey can be found here.

Sustainable Human Resources Management

Together with experts from various universities, NGOs and business representatives, relevant literature and content of sustainable management will be systematically processed and prepared for executive training purposes "Nachhaltig.Erfolgreich.Führen" (Sustainable.Successful.Leadership) under the direction of DIHK-Bildungs-GmbH since January 2019. The planned management training is being developed within the framework of the National Action Plan on ESD (2017), is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and is supported by a broad network of partners. The expert advisory board consists of representatives from the BMBF, DIHK e.V. and the Chambers of Industry and Commerce in Nuremberg, Hamburg, Magdeburg and Mannheim. The project has a modular structure and its own contribution focuses on the area of sustainable human resource management. Specifically, human resource instruments and management strategies are analysed that have a sustainable effect for companies in today's world characterised by digitalisation, globalisation and demographic change, that support a general sustainability strategy and thus initiate a competitive edge.

At the same time, the selected sustainable human resources and leadership instruments also provide answers and future perspectives for the needs of an employee base for performance-based remuneration, meaningful work organisation, motivating corporate culture, openness to innovation and compliance with ethical principles of corporate action. In the sub-project "Sustainable Human Resource Management", these two requirements are brought together in a constructive concept. The end of the project is planned for autumn 2021, followed by joint publications on the topic in 2021 / 2022.
