In his laudation, Georg Kell, Chairman of Arabesque and Founding Director of the United Nations Global Compact, emphasized that Professor Robert Eccles has made an important contribution to greater corporate sustainability by bringing together and connecting different stakeholders around the globe. In addition, as a tireless networker, he played a key role in mainstreaming integrated reporting.
Professor Robert G. Eccles said in his acceptance speech: “I am very grateful for this great award. I firmly believe that capital markets are the key to sustainable development, and the focus of my work is to empower them as far as possible. This requires a commitment from companies, investors and the public sector”.
The Lifetime Achievement CSR Award is traditionally presented at the International Conference on Sustainability and Responsibility. This year’s leading conference for sustainable management in Europe was hosted for the first time by the Center for Advanced Sustainable Management (CASM) at the Cologne Business School, in cooperation with the Humboldt University and the Hamburg School of Business Administration. From 14 to 16 November 2018, international scientists, thought leaders, executives, politicians and representatives of civil society from over 40 nations met in Cologne.
