New publication: CSR and university management

With “CSR und Hochschulmanagement. Sustainable Education als neues Paradigma in Forschung und Lehre” (CSR and university management – Sustainable education as a new paradigm in research and teaching) Prof Dr Markus Raueiser and Monika Kolb publish a new standard in the management series Corporate Social Responsibility.

Whether it is the introduction of new administrative structures, the diversity of students and teachers, the democratization of knowledge or demographic development – universities are constantly changing. What does university development mean against this background and how can the current challenges be used for university management? In the book, academics from various faculties and administrations as well as students and actors from politics, research and business discuss to what extent corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable education are suitable concepts for dealing with these internal and external changes.

Using practical examples from renowned private and public universities, the authors reflect on their experiences and insights as stakeholders in and around universities. Can universities use the challenges to design new, more suitable organisational structures and further develop the institution of higher education? How does the path from critical scrutiny of processes and structures within the higher education organisation to better, sustainable higher education management proceed and what can the various actors contribute to this?

The book contributions not only provide recommendations for action for university management, but also encourage discussion of the concepts of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability in the context of organisational development at the university. Thus, the volume also provides an overview of the current state of the discussion – for academics, for practitioners and for experts in and outside the university.
