Letter from the Executive Board of the CBS International Business School

Faculty, Press releases   -  31. March 2020

Dear students and prospective students,

dear employees,

dear partners and friends of the CBS,

the past few weeks have been extraordinary. We have all never experienced such a situation before. Contact bans, closed theatres, leisure facilities and shops – our togetherness is being put to a hard test!

But exceptional times require exceptional measures. In order to make our contribution to flattening the infection curve, we immediately implemented the resolutions of the state of North Rhine-Westfalia. We succeeded in making this digital transformation to teaching a reality in just one week. Every single attendance hour was successfully converted to digital teaching formats. In this way, we not only teach change management, agility, digitalisation, we have managed to realise this adaptation for the CBS, too.

And we could not have achieved this without you, dear students and staff! It is particularly impressive for us to see how calmly you have dealt with this situation. We would like to thank you for making this important measure to maintain regular teaching operations a success and for your support: We have already held almost 700 lectures last week via video conference, in which students from all over the world took part.

Our special thanks also go to our employees in the service facilities and in the administration: They have impressively proven that student counselling can be carried out just as successfully by e-mail, telephone or via video conferences, and are always available to our students as contact persons for any concerns, for example also with regard to our offer of the CBS education fund.

With this attitude and your great commitment in recent weeks, we will succeed in keeping the effects of the Corona pandemic on our teaching operations as low as possible so that our students will not suffer any disadvantages from this exceptional situation: On the contrary, we are convinced that together we will emerge from this crisis stronger.

These measures will initially apply until the end of the semester (22 May 2020). In the Executive Committee, we are in constant communication with authorities and ministries about the latest developments, so that we can make well-founded decisions at any time. As usual, we will of course inform you of any relevant changes in good time by circular email and on our information page.

If there is one thing we can learn from this crisis, it is that sound education is more important than ever! Especially after the crisis, there will be a shift towards the employer market, where the demand for qualified university graduates with comprehensive digital know-how and business skills will remain high. The application phase for the winter semester 2020/2021 has begun and we can already assure you that you can start your studies at the CBS International Business School today!

Morover, we are always at your side with online information offers and via digital communication media and will be happy to answer all your questions regarding studying at your CBS International Business School.

Take care of yourself and the health of your fellow human beings. Stay healthy!

Warmest regards

The Executive Committee of the CBS International Business School
