Visit to the chocolate Museum

All News, Inside CBS   -  12. April 2016

On Thursday afternoon, 15 students joined the I´StIP visit to the chocolate Museum of Cologne. It was a beautiful sunny day and we all met in Heumarkt to walk along the Rhein to the museum. We had a guided tour at 3:15 pm with a very friendly guide. The tour was 1:30 hours long and the students learned the entire process of the production of chocolate. It began with explanations from cacao beans, where they come from, the biggest exporters and producers.

The students also had the chance to try different types of chocolate to discover how different cacao can be worked and produced. They were very excited when they got the first piece of chocolate to eat, however, the smiles soon disappeared from their faces as they discovered the intense flavor of a 100% cacao chocolate. This way, they learned how chocolate is only as tasty as they know it, because of the sugar that it is mixed with.

They had three different types of chocolate to try. Finally, they could taste the type of chocolate they actually love, from the museum´s famous chocolate fountain.

After finishing the interesting tour, we all went to the Museum´s delicious cafe to order some hot chocolate and cake.

At the end, since one can never have enough chocolate, the students went to the chocolate shop to buy some products to take home.
