International Days: EMS students increase their Wanderlust

News   -  20. September 2018

Live in the sunniest region of New Zealand, on the golden beaches of the Tasman Sea in the center of Nelson, with the #1 growing economy on the island! Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT), established in 1905, offers this and more, to name a few– business courses with real world experiences, personal mentoring, outdoor adventure programs and sport clubs.

Dive into Europe’s technology hub and spend a semester at the Dublin Business School (DBS) with close links to large international companies such as IBM, Microsoft, Dell, Facebook and LinkedIn. Be a part of the DBS international Rugby Team, experience the Irish culture first hand and spend your first few orientation weeks with a host family, see how green Ireland really is by taking part in trips and excursions with the DBS “Student Experience”, brush up on your business English and meet other internationals during a one-week English orientation program.

Take part in the “Hidden Business Champions” summer school programmein Belgium at the Artevelde University College Ghent, “One of Europe’s greatest discoveries – small enough to feel cozy big enough to be vibrant” (lonely planet). Get closer to being a true entrepreneur through specialized hands on business labs, like the 3ID LABS where, over the course of one semester, you work on real-life social cases in the areas of poverty, sustainability, social inclusion, etc. in your own start-up environment.

With a network of over 110 partner universities, each offering their own unique study programs, student life activities and exciting locations, it is often difficult for EMS students to choose what university and destination is best for their semester abroad. In order to make this decision a bit easier, the CBS International Office organized their 2nd International Days on the Cologne campus. Over 15 EMS/CBS partner universities from Europe, Asia and North America presented their universities and study abroad opportunities during the Study Abroad Fair and more personalized information sessions. Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT), the Dublin Business School (DBS) and Artevelde University College Ghent show only three examples of some of the insider tips and opportunities that were presented during the two day event. Other universities included the University of California Irvine, UCLA Extension, La Trobe University, Bond University, James Cook University Singapur, Fontys University Eindhoven, University of North Carolina Wilmington, National University San Diego, Vancouver Island University, International College of Management Sydney, California State University Northridge and Griffith University Brisbane.

After this informative and intensive exchange with several of the partner universities, there is no doubt that our EMS students are even more excited to get started with their semester abroad. But, as mentioned by one of the partner university representatives, the extracurricular and leisure opportunities abroad are amazing, however be sure to be realistic about your budget, plan your courses well and be proactive when it comes to choosing housing at your selected destination. Take advantage of the services offered by the EMS International Office while planning your semester abroad, and you can be sure the International Office at your partner university abroad will welcome and support you just the same.

The opportunity to travel and explore the world, meet new friends, experience a new culture be submersed in a foreign language have just gotten that much closer! Here you can find more  information on the EMS Study Abroad Experience or check our Instagram #emswanderlust
