What is a Friday afternoon with a top-class speaker programme, a personal welcome on screens, a get-together and a guided Brauhaus tour? This is the 2019 CBS Summer Semester Opening Ceremony, exclusively for the new Bachelor and Master students in International Business. The kick-off event ceremony on campus was the closing event of the orientation days, where students have the opportunity to experience the CBS before the courses begin.
Prof. Dr. habil. Elisabeth Fröhlich, President of the CBS, gave the welcome speech in the Audimax, followed by a keynote by Alexandra Barth, Senior Vice President Consumer Solutions of the Cologne-based hotel booking platform HRS GmbH. Neil Jordaan reported from an alumni perspective: The South African graduated from the CBS with an MBA, was enthusiastic about the professionalism and the internationality and is today Project Manager at Bayer. The students received their farewells from Prof. Dr. Markus Raueiser, Dean of the Faculty of International Business. At the following get-together in the CBS Business Lounge, the students were able to enjoy delicious finger food from the CBS caterer-of-choice Markus Schlösser and exchange ideas with each other and many lecturers in a casual atmosphere.
The Brauhaus Tour, which was on the agenda after the get-together, proved how good the team spirit among the students is. The students organised this evening programme for the “newcomers” so they could directly get to know the local (beer) culture in their new home Cologne.
The CBS greatly values comprehensive support for the students so that they can fully focus on their studies and can gain new insights and establish contacts in the business world alongside their studies.
