The Center for Advanced Sustainable Management (CASM) at the Cologne Business School (CBS), in cooperation with the Humboldt-Universität (HU) and the Hamburg School of Business Administration (HSBA), is hosting the 8th International Conference on Sustainability and Responsibility for the first time. From the 14th to the 15th of November 2018 they will bring together international scientists, thought leaders, executives, politicians and representatives of civil society from over 40 nations at the CSR and Sustainability Conference in Cologne. Founded in 2004 as the Humboldt-CSR Conference, this English-language symposium is now regarded as the leading CSR and sustainability conference in Europe.
This year, its focus will be on the core themes of “Responsible Leadership”, “Digitalization and New Technologies”, “Business Transformation”, “Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship”, “(Corporate) Governance and Responsible Finance”. The event is aimed at an international, interdisciplinary audience of experts from science and industry. The various topics will be presented in the form of lectures and work sessions by CSR experts John Elkington, R. Edward Freeman, Wayne Visser, Lize A.E. Booysen, Prof Ernst U. von Weizsäcker, Robert G. Eccles, Georg Kell and John Spengler.
North Rhine-Westphalia’s Minister of Economics, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy, Prof Dr Andreas Pinkwart will open the conference: “Digital transformation is one of the greatest economic and social tasks of our time – for North Rhine-Westphalia and worldwide. For this important future topic we need a broad social dialogue and a reliable ethical and legal foundation. Good leadership means assuming responsibility for oneself, for others and for the future and setting an example.”
“As the organizer of the CSR conference, our aim is to contribute to a dialogue between the international experts and the audience on the topics of sustainability and responsible leadership, and to jointly promote the transformation of business, politics and society towards sustainable development,” says Prof Dr René Schmidpeter, Head of the Center for Advanced Sustainable Management.
