Most people are familiar with the Carnival in Venice and Rio de Janeiro, and the way in which these are celebrated. But now, we made sure that our international students get well informed about the craziest of all: Cologne´s Carnival.
For this, we invited some special guests who are experts in Cologne´s Carnival, Sebastian and Heinz Schulter, PR manager from the carnival´s committee. Dressed up in the classical costumes, our guests made a good impression on the international students.
The session started out with a historical background summary of the origins of carnival and how it is celebrated in this city.
They also trained the students until they could all yell in a perfect chorus the main things they will need to know such as “Kölle Aalaaf”, “Kamelle” and “Strüssje”. They explained what „bützen” means and how it works. Finally they wrapped up with essential tips and recommendations on how they can take the most advantage of this lovely week of Carnival.
After this interactive information session, we hope our international students are perfectly prepared for the exciting days coming up in this city, and enjoy the celebrations.
