Deutsche Telekom brings CBS students on board for Meet & Greet BBQ

The collaboration with Deutsche Telekom has paid off for thirty bachelor and master students of International Business in two respects: On the one hand, they have gained important practical experience as part of a business project or master’s thesis. On the other hand, they were personally invited to a Rhine tour on the MS RheinCargo by Alfred Lohbeck, Managing Director of Human Resources / Labor Director of Deutsche Telekom.

On 29 August 2018, the passenger ship started at pier 13. Among the guests were students, representatives of the deanery such as Prof Dr Elisabeth Fröhlich and Prof Dr Christoph Willers and numerous Telekom employees. Alfred Lohbeck opened the Meet&Greet with a welcome speech, in which he thanked the students for their great commitment and their excellent project results. Afterwards, the 45 guests enjoyed the rich buffet and the relaxing evening cruise on the Rhine. Many guests used the opportunity to socialize.

Christin Sophia Etmanski, master student of the International Business programme, was enthusiastic about the Meet & Greet BBQ: “I was very pleased about Deutsche Telekoms’ invitation. We’ve worked intensively on complex issues in the last weeks and we’ve achieved great results. The invitation was a big surprise for me and a great recognition of our work. ”

Close cooperation between CBS students and Deutsche Telekom

The Rhine tour marked the temporary end of an intensive cooperation between the CBS students and Deutsche Telekom. Eleven student teams specializing in Human Resources Management & Leadership and Strategic Management & Consulting worked together with Telekom Managers in Business Projects from February to March 2018. Under the direction of Prof Dr Malgorzata Zmuda and Prof Dr Anja Karlshaus the teams addressed themselves to issues of digitization and developed, for instance, an overview of relevant “Future IT Skills” or analysed the “Market Consequences of Digital Transformation”. The students presented their results in a final presentation to representatives of the upper management in Telekom’s headquarters.
