On behalf of the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst e. V. (DAAD)), the Cologne Business School annually awards a prize to students who have made outstanding contributions to the support of international students in the past year. This year, the highly endowed prize was awarded to Franco Rafael Zegarra Garcia Godos, a master student from Peru, who distinguished himself through his outstanding academic achievements and social commitment at the Cologne Business School. “Especially in these times it is important that we build bridges instead of walls. I think it is great that the Cologne Business School recognizes intercultural commitment and I feel very honored by the DAAD award,” said Franco Rafael Zegarra.

During the award ceremony, Ximena Ancira Facio, Eun Kyoung Park, Minami Ojima, Nachaya Sriteeraviroj, Arianna Balbo and Alexander Orlov were also honoured with a DAAD STIBET Scholarship, as they supported the International Office with their special commitment in supporting international students and enriched international student life at the CBS.

About the DAAD Awards
The DAAD award, which is endowed with € 1,000 per university and has been awarded for more than ten years, is intended to help give the large numbers of foreign students at German universities a face and link them to stories. This makes it clear that every single foreign student takes a piece of Germany with him to his home country and leaves something of himself in Germany – an enrichment for both sides. The students stand for their fellow students from all over the world. They are Germany’s future partners in business, politics and science.

With funds from the Federal Foreign Office, the DAAD also offers universities a combined scholarship and supervision programme(STIBET). STIBET provides the universities with funds for awarding scholarships and for providing specialist and social support for foreign students and supports selected innovative individual measures aimed at improving cooperation between the institutions involved in providing support locally.
