Great joy at Brezelkinder e.V. and the Förderverein für krebskranke Kinder e.V. Köln: on 29 March both non-profit organisations from Cologne received € 10,000 raised by students in the charity campaign “CBS Work4Good”. The money will be used to support sick children. CBS Work4Good is a student initiative at the Cologne Business School started in 2011. But how did the students manage to collect this large donation? Of course through good work. The offer: The students work free of charge in companies – and in return the companies donate to the organisations. This year, 60 students and 27 companies participated. The CBS Career Service department, which is well connected to the region’s economy, is primarily in charge of acquiring partner companies.
Student initiative, charity and career event – all in one
Not only the people receiving the donations benefit from the campaign: the students gain insights in exciting companies, and the companies establish contacts with highly sought-after talents. This networking aspect was the main focus of a special career event at the CBS, the “Work4Good Career Fair”. There, the companies that donated most generously to Work4Good took the opportunity to introduce themselves to the students using their own booths. Many companies that have been supporting Work4Good for years were present, such as ARKADIA Management Consultants, amc Group, Horbach, Great Place to Work and Sparda-Bank West. Excubate and MBS Logistics were there for the first time. Themed “CBS Cares for”, Charity is an essential part of the university culture at CBS. Click here to find out more.
