On Saturday 28th of November, the International Office had the last trip of the I´StIP. At 11:30 am, a large group of 50 students met in the Cologne´s central station to join the trip to Aachen. Once again we filled the train´s wagon since we were such a big group.
After our arrival, we walked together from the main station to the meeting point we had arranged with the tour guides. After splitting up into two groups, of 25 students each, we were ready to begin. We had a “Magical Winter” guided city tour through Aachen´s city center. For an hour and a half we walked around the city and admired the main attractions like the Rathaus, the Elisenbrunnen and the wonderful cathedral. We were lucky to have a nice weather, even though it was a cold November day, we still managed to have some sun all day.
At 3:00pm, both tours ended, and the two groups came together again. The highlight of the tour was the end, an end that included the famous glühwein all international students were waiting to taste.
After warming up a little with the delicious glühwein, the second part of our trip to Aachen took place: the Christmas market. The students all enjoyed some typical food like Flammkuchen, Bratwurst, Dampfnudeln, and creppes or waffles with lots of chocolate. They walked around the shops, and even bought some Christmas decorations and gifts for their friends and families.
At around 6pm, the students headed back to Cologne after having enjoyed the Christmas beauty Aachen has to offer.
