Last Saturday the Cologne Business School hosted the first Bachelor and Master Open Campus Day for potential bachelor and master students. The study orientation day was conceptually redesigned at the beginning of the year and offered the guests a total of 16 programmeitems with classics such as campus tours and new formats around the range of courses. For the first time, CBS alumnus Philip Kollmann presented the “Career Prospects Alumni Report” on his bachelor’s programme”General Management” and his career entry at Tank & Rast Gesellschaft mbH. After his presentation he answered questions about his studies and his career path.
Moreover, the new programmeitem “Meet a Prof” offered a personal advice at those interested in the Master’s programs. Prof Dr Elisabeth Fröhlich and Prof Dr Stefan Schwarz took a lot of time to answer questions about the 20 bachelor’s and master’s courses in business administration. In individual discussions with the potential students, they also gave their recommendations on the specialisation offers within the study programs.
New programmeitems for the guests
“Cash is King” was the first English-language trial lecture to be offered to guests. Prof Dr Roberto Anero, Professor for Controlling and Financial Management, began his course with the open question whether entrepreneurs would prefer profits or cash. A participant finally gave the right answer: “It all depends.
The new format “CBS Insights” presents practice-oriented teaching contents to the audience. Patrick Bungard, Head of the Center for Advanced Sustainable Management (CASM) at the Cologne Business School, gave a lecture on “Sustainable Management: A New Story of Business” in English and discussed the work of the CASM as a center for research and teaching on sustainability-related topics.
The visitors to the Bachelor and Master Open Campus Day have responded positively to the new event concept, as Florian Hecke confirmed: “I enjoyed the day at the CBS very much. The welcome was very warm and the atmosphere sociable. My personal highlight was the lecture “Cash is King” by Prof Anero. Already during my macroeconomics studies I wished that my lectures would have been so informative and funny. Unfortunately, time passed far too quickly, but the day encouraged me to come back for a personal consultation”.
The next Bachelor and Master Open Campus Day will take place on 16 February 2019 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Cologne Business School.
