The topic of entrepreneurship is increasingly gaining ground in Germany and more and more students are interested in entrepreneurial activities. Anyone wishing to start their own business or enter a start-up requires comprehensive and specific business management knowledge. CBS offered “Entrepreneurship” as a main focus in the Master’s programme. In addition, we offer prospective entrepreneurs optimal conditions for starting up their own business through individual coaching, soft skills and financing options such as the EXIST start-up scholarship.

In the beginning there is always an idea. But when it comes to implementing this idea, many questions are usually raised: How does it become a business model? What characteristics are needed to establish it? And how can business partners, financiers and potential customers be inspired by it?
This is where the CBS, as the office of the hochschulgründernetz cologne e.V. (hgnc) offers support and advice for students from the region who are interested in setting up their own business. With currently 20 partners from Cologne universities and institutions, the network has developed into the first point of contact and expert network in Cologne. In addition to initial consultations, support in the development of business models and a comprehensive network of experienced start-up coaches, the hgnc regularly organises lectures and workshops on the topics of freelance work, social innovations, technology start-ups, project management and the self-organisation of founders.
The consultants of the hgnc offer a free consultation or coaching for those interested in founding a business in the member institutions for the preparation of the business plan and for the application of support programmes, such as the EXIST-Gründerstipendium. Two CBS start-up teams have already been selected for the EXIST scholarship: “Green for Me” and “Compounder”.
The CBS Founders Factory is a student initiative for all those who are interested in self-employment and perhaps already have a first business idea. In weekly meetings, students have the opportunity, supported by our lecturers and professors, to work on their business ideas and put the theory they have learned into practice. One of our goals is to participate in the business plan competition of the NUK (New Entrepreneurship Rhineland) and the hgnc (university start-up network cologne e. V.).
